By 1980, Jerome Andres—a second-generation Delano resident—had taken the helm of the family hardware business. For decades, he poured meticulous care into the building, checking in daily to tend to its upkeep and safeguard its character—even after the store eventually moved out and the structure stood vacant.

A Name with Meaning
